Ovaries and the Liver-Blood System: The ovaries’ function of hormone production and regulation of the menstrual cycle is linked to the Liver, which stores Blood and regulates its flow. This ensures a healthy menstrual cycle and prevents disorders like PMS and infertility.

Menstrual Cycle Regulation:

• Follicular Phase: Early in the cycle, FSH stimulates ovarian follicles to mature. These follicles produce estrogen, regulating additional follicle growth and preparing the uterine lining.

• Ovulation: A surge in LH, triggered by high estrogen levels, leads to the release of an egg from the dominant follicle.

• Luteal Phase: After ovulation, the ruptured follicle transforms into the corpus luteum, secreting progesterone to maintain the uterine lining for potential implantation. If pregnancy does not occur, the corpus luteum degenerates, leading to decreased hormone levels and menstruation.


Feedback Mechanisms: The hormones produced by the ovaries (estrogen and progesterone) provide feedback to the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, helping regulate the secretion of GnRH, LH, and FSH. This maintains hormonal balance and ensures proper menstrual cycle functioning.
